Death Toll in Kingston Reaches 44 → jamaica-gleaner.com

I leave for Jamaica in five days. This whole ordeal has forced my class to rethink our trip. We are supposed to be spending a good chunk of our time up at Holywell in Jamaica’s only national park, but the route we planned to take goes right through Kingston. There’s one other road that is a possibility, but there are large pieces of it missing, so we would have to get out and walk to meet drivers on the other side. If the road is too bad, we won’t be able to get to Holywell. I’m bummed. Hopefully it works out! Obviously, I hope it works out more so for Jamaicans so that they are safe and people stop dying.

Heineken World Bottle Project → inhabitat.com

It’s too bad this idea didn’t catch on! What a fun project, drinking beer and turning the bottles into a shelter of sorts. So neat! I love innovative upcycling ideas. I guess you could build a shelter with regular beer bottles too. Anyone up for a challenge?

“It takes courage to be willing to meet myself over and over again, seeing in my own face more beauty and grace and ability to love than I had hoped for, more judgment and impatience and need than I had feared. I forget that it does not matter how far or how fast I move, but only how much of myself I take along for the journey.” —Oriah Mountain Dreamer

“Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune,
Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing,
Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms,
Strong and content I travel the open road.”
